Description
This Korg delay line is a rare survivor from the early 80s. Rare that it is in excellent condition, rarer that it works well and super-rare in that it’s a 220-volt model. Photos show the SDD-1000 for sale
Refurbished with a new power transformer. Tested & working 100%
An early model in the Korg range, the SDD-1000 is a 12-bit digital unit with the limited bandwidth & warm sound typical of early digital units. It’s not as smooth & slinky-sounding as a PCM 42 but has a tougher character with a bit more edge. Or a bit more Edge
Apart from Edge, users include Daniel Lanois, John Martyn, Tony Iommi & Eric Johnson
“Scour the digital delay reviews on harmony central and you’ll find words like “cold” “sterile” and “like my ex-girlfriend.” No such criticisms of the SDD series, my friends: these puppies are “warm” “round” and “like Britney’s ass””
“The Korg SDD series are the greatest digital delays ever made, and the SDD-1000 is the best of the series”
“Some seemingly ordinary effects unit have magic, and the SDD-1000 (or certainly this particular one) is one of them. It is totally musical, and great sounds pour out of it. It also honestly doesn’t sound at all digital either”
In excellent cosmetic condition – which is rare for one of these. All the control knobs & switches are original and in great condition. The rack ears are very tidy and the unit has almost none of the usual rack rash & case chips of a vintage unit
