Description
The Quad 33 is a legendary preamplifier launched by The Acoustical Manufacturing Company of Huntingdon, Cambridge in 1967. The 33 – and partner 303 power amplifier – were the first transistor units from Quad and followed design principles laid down with the valve Quad 22 preamp
The 33 has tone controls & filters – things missing on most modern amps – and plug-in preamp boards with adjustable sensitivity for the various inputs. Build quality is extremely high. Quad still service the 33 & 303 and there’s a flourishing aftermarket offering rebuilds, upgrades & parts
This 33 is unrestored. It passes signal OK via the Radio inputs but is otherwise untested. It’s suitable for a minor update – replacing old electrolytics caps, for example – or for a complete rebuild
Supplied complete with the hard-to-find power connector and a 4-pin DIN connector to make up an output cable
Other upgrade parts, connectors & cable are available – please enquire
