Description
Rare Shure octave equaliser with transformers in & out. These are Class A, transistor units using precision capacitors to set EQ frequencies. They are ten-band, octave equalisers, so called as each band spans an octave. This pair is made up from two equalisers with close serial numbers
Fixed-frequency equalisers are somewhat out of fashion now but, in use, you’ll find they work vey effectively & target a frequency band that seems very natural and very musical
The EQ has a bypass switch but the signal still passes through the preamp section. The preamp has a gain pot and up to 20 dB of gain
The SR-107 is, like the FP11, M267 and FP42 preamp, from the Shure “Slept-on Classics Collection” where gems are unearthed, highly praised but then ignored because they don’t say Neve on the front panel
“I can honestly say that they are my *absolute favorite* bass DI. I use them for bass and kick drum over my Universal Audio LA-610 without even a second thought”
“They are total sleepers. I re-capped mine as soon as I got them, and they are dead silent, and very, very usable. I love them on snare the most, carving out the bad frequencies, and adding punch and top-end “sparkle”. Also nice on kick and even heavy distorted guitar.”
“Love the Shure SR 107’s. Love mine. My favourite bass DI. A not so well-known gem.”
Characterful, rare, interesting. 110 Volt so will need a transformer for use in the UK / EU
The power supply has been recapped but these are otherwise unmolested. The original control knobs on these are brittle & prone to breaking. I recommend replacing them for long term use
