Description
Rackmount version of the classic Korg DW-8000 hybrid synth. Released in 1986, the EX-8000 combines sixteen digital waveform generators (DWGX) with a classic 24dB/octave low-pass filter
It has eight-note polyphony and onboard effects including delay. Four buttons select between two polyphonic and two unison modes – in unison the eight oscillators sound mighty!
This is a big-sounding polyphonic synth that is surprisingly good to work with. The editing system is cryptic but results come quickly
Refurbished with a new IEC power socket, chassis earth and a new backup battery. Set to 230 Volts for the UK / EU, reinitialised to factory settings and original presets reloaded via sysex
“The poly modes are smooth BUT the Unison mode really throws a HUGE punch!
Try almost any type of lead or bass, unison kicks booty. It’s very easy to cook up sounds with this amazing module.”
“I have three and use them all the time. Some people have asked me how come I still have them, but I find the analog Korg sound to be unique.
Of course, I also have all the new digital stuff and also have other analog gear but the Korg EX-8000 and DW-8000 are neat hybrids with a sound of their own”
“The DW/EX-8000 was a hidden gem of the mid-80s, overshadowed by the hype for digital and perfect recreations of physical instruments. It used special single-cycle waveforms that were either generated or resynthesized from samples. They are NOT romplers”
In excellent condition with an umarked front panel and original rack ears. Works nicely and sounds great! Photos show the synth for sale
