The Chiswick Reach Stereo Compressor is an all-valve, transformer-coupled compressor built in traditional point-to-point style with no circuit boards. With its roots in designs from the 1960s, the compressor circuitry has been refined over the years to create a “vintage” unit suitable for modern studios. Hand-built in London, the Chiswick Reach is a proper high-end compressor with very low noise and distortion
The specifications are remarkable

- High frequency -3dB point 55kHz
- Low frequency -3dB point 15Hz
- Distortion at +8dB input level and 5dB compression less than 0.08% predominately second order
- Broadband noise better than -70dB peak 20Hz to 20kHz
- Within 1 degree of phase from 10Hz to 25kHz
- Release Time 0.25 second to 2.5 seconds
- Threshold range – 7.5dB
- Max attainable output before soft clipping +22dB
“My Chiswick Reach, with vintage Triad transformers, provides great low-midrange focus for hard rock drums, guitar, and bass”
“Whilst sounding good on almost every individual instrument or vocal, across a main mix this unit really excels, unobtrusively reducing dynamic range if necessary, or sounding warm and squidgy – like putting your mix through rich chocolate gateau”
“The Chiswick Reach is capable of some very subtle but effective compression — the kind of processing which seems barely noticeable, but makes all the difference to a completed track!”
“Full range of compression effects from virtually transparent through to hard and dirty, it never fails to sound fabulous”
This Chiswick Reach compressor is direct from the effects rack of a well-known UK producer and is in lovely condition. It is the perfect mixing compressor for vocals or the mix bus and would be ideal for final sweetening during mastering
