Symetrix may be relatively unknown in the UK, but the American company produced excellent, low-cost audio gear through the 80s and 90s. The company is still very much alive & kicking, building digital audio equipment for broadcast, venues and live sound, and is one of the pioneers of Dante networking
The 552E is a dual-channel, five-band parametric equaliser, dual-channel meaning there are separate controls for each channel. In addition to five bands of EQ, each channel has a bypass switch, gain trim & variable low- and high-pass filters
In usual Symetrix style the 552E is long on audio quality and short on bells & whistles. It has the things you need – high- and low-pass filters and overall gain trims – but no flashing lights, meters or other extraneous items. Control feel is good – despite having pretty small knobs – and sound quality is excellent. I’d quite happily use these for any EQ job
I have two 552Es in excellent condition. The front panels are almost unmarked and they have original knobs & switches. They have minor case scratches but virtually no rack rash. 220 VAC, internally switchable to 110 VAC. UK, Euro or US power cable supplied on request. Tested & working 100%
