Description
Reboot of the classic Octave Cat synth in 3U / Eurorack-friendly format
The Cat is a monophonic synth, with a duophonic mode, in a 1970s style very reminiscent of the ARP Odyssey
The Cat takes midi via USB as well as OG midi connections. It has CV & Gate inputs for both oscillators, for the VCF & VCA, and it sends CV, Gate, AD & ADSR control voltages, so it’s eminently suitable for inclusion in a modular setup
“What the Cat immediately delivers is that kind of thick, warm analogue fatness that you’d expect from a 70s synth. Take something as simple as a pulse wave from VCO1 with a hint of PWM from the LFO and a dash of sub-oscillator, play with the filter cutoff (FC) slider in real time and you’ve got the weightiest bass sound you could desire
Above all, the Cat is refreshingly quirky. Features like looping envelopes and the extensive modulation options give it a real character” – Juno website
“I picked one up… took it home, cranked it up, and… YES, it’s just as I remembered”
“I still use my ’79 “Rev A” CAT, it’s my favorite mono. It’s the only monosynth I know of that used the SSM2040 filter chip (same as the Prophet 5 Rev2). That filter can destroy speakers when the resonance is turned up…sounds like pure electricity flowing from the synth”
