Modal describe the Argon8 as a modern wavetable synth for music performers, producers and sound designers. It’s a neat package with lots of opportunities for bending & modifying sounds. The joystick is instantly useful, giving simultaneous access to multiple parameters, and the smooth encoders allow easy editing
The Argon8 is 8-voice polyphonic and has mono, poly, 3 unison & 2 stack modes. You can morph between wavetables in realtime and the onboard arpeggiator and 512-note sequencer give lots of options
The free MODALapp gives easy access to all AGRON8M functions. It runs on macOS/Windows/iOS/iPadOS and Android devices and is also available in AU/VST3 plug-in formats as a MODALplugin
Argon8 uses an external power supply and has a back-panel power switch. It has OG and USB midi, L & R audio outputs, a headphone socket and expression & sustain inputs all on 1/4-inch jacks. Audio in and sync in / out are on minijacks
If you’ve looked at a Modal Skulpt you’ll know what to expect in terms of styling & approach. However he build quality of the Argon8 is on a different plane to the Skulpt. The Argon8 feels substantial and is beautifully finished
