Description

The Roland System-1 synth combines a traditional front-panel layout with a USB interface to a VST/AU instrument plugin in your DAW

It’s a four-oscillator, four note polyphony synth with physical sliders & knobs for instant editing. The filter is switchable betweeen 12 and 24 dB / octave and ther’s an independent hipass filter. It has tempo-syncing for LFO & delay and a built-in arpeggiator. Efects include reverb, delay and a bit crusher

Presets can be stored & reloaded over USB and knob & slder settings sent as midi control changes. There’s a good desctription of the setup & operation of the plugout side of the synth, and the freely-downloadable Roland SH-101 emulation, in the Sound on Sound review (see the Links tab)

“Classic analogue synths are usually revered for two reasons: their sound and their interface. The System 1 is capable of a generous range of analogue sounds and I suspect few will care whether there’s circuitry or code inside” – Sound on Sound

“The plug–out concept is loaded with potential and while the SH101 is an exclusive treat for the owners of the System 1, subsequent plug–outs should be available separately and individually”

“Go get the free Roland Librarian and get access to the 279 free factory patches”

“A tiny polyphonic synth with a creamy palette of analogue and virtual analogue sounds. It’s stocked with well–chosen controls and supplied with the modelled SH101 plug–out. Bundle in an audio and MIDI interface and the System 1 is an ideal DAW companion that can operate equally well stand–alone”

“I am absolutely blown away by what Roland has accomplished…”

“The Aira System-1 sounds better than several of my favorite analog instruments—and coming from a purist, that’s heresy. Every classic analog patch I threw at it sounded astonishingly legitimate. There were even a few vintage sounds that the Roland nailed where the others failed”

“Compact, well-built and portable with plenty of modulation options. The built-in synth and the free Plug-Out SH-101 synth sound superb. Backlit interface with ‘knob per function’ ethos and no menu diving”

In really excellent condition, almost unmarked. Supplied with original box & packaging plus the external power supply. Tested & working 100%. Photos show the synth for sale
