Description
Roland polyphonic Virtual Analogue rack synth in the tradition of the MKS70 & MKS80. The 8080 is the rack version of the JP-8000 keyboard but goes one better by adding distortion effects and a vocoder
The JP-8080 has 10-note polyphony and forty-odd knobs & sliders to aid real-time sound creation & performance
Roland describe the JP-8080 like this
- Powerful “Analog Modeling” synthesizer module with 40 knobs and sliders for intuitive sound creation and sonic manipulation
- Seven onboard waveforms: Super Saw, Triangle Modulation, Noise, Feedback Oscillator, Square (PWM), Sawtooth, Triangle
- 10-voice polyphony and Unison function for analog sounds reminiscent of the best classic synths
- External Audio Synthesis allows for processing external audio sources using synthesizer filter, amplifier and multi-effects
- Voice Modulator allows external Mic/Vocal/Instrument input to be processed in real time using one of three unique modes: Formant Filter, Filter Bank, and Vocal Morph Control
- Three independent onboard effects: Delay, Multi-FX including Chorus, Flanger and Distortion
- Onboard Motion Control records all slider and knob movements for “hands-free” playback
- Knob movements can be output via MIDI
- Onboard Arpeggiator and Realtime Phrase Sequencing (RPS) capability
- Bank and Number buttons, Preview functions, dedicated MIDI
- Remote Keyboard In, and SmartMedia storage
“The Roland JP8080 is the best, and with a bit greater polyphony – which is not the main reason for preferring JP-8080 over JP-8000 – along with the Noise oscillator, Unison mode, Morphing, Distortion and Vocoder. In addition, JP-8080 is a real heavy duty steel synth, extremely high professional constructed. In my opinion it’s the most lavish and robust synth I ever have seen in my life. “
“I think this is the first and only time in the history of my life when I like the rack version better than the keyboard”
“There is nothing to say: SuperSaw. Original, unique and remarkable in every anthem!”
“Since I sold my jp8000 I do cry every night”
“I’d sell/trade my JP8000 for the 8080 rackmount version, mostly for the extra vocoder and cool distortion”
In very good condition with an unmarked front panel. The synth has a couple of case marks and there is rack rash & scuffs on the rack ears and a slight bend on one ear. Arpeggiator knob cap is non-original.
Serviced & headphone pot replaced. Tested & working 100%. Supplied with original rack ears. UK, Euro or US power cable supplied on request. Photos show the JP-8080 for sale
