Description
This is a rare Texas Instruments Music Star teaching toy from around 1988. It’s related to the Speak & Spell, but is a music tuition tool rather than a spelling tutor
I haven’t disassembled the unit so don’t know if the language is switchable inside. Possibly it is, but it may also be made with different ROM versions for each language. If you don’t speak German there are some good demos on Youtube demonstrating the English version and showing what each button does. See the Links tab for a link to the video
According to the Datamath Calculator Museum, the Music Star toy stores 12 well-known German songs for children:
• Ihr Kinderlein, kommet
• Was soll das bedeuten
• Ich geh mit meiner Laterne
• Fuchs, Du hast die Gans gestohlen
• Weisst Du, wieviel Sternlein stehen
• Wer will fleissige Handwerker sehen
• Es tanzt ein Bi-Ba-Butzemann
• Ein Männlein steht im Walde
• Es war eine Mutter
• Alle Vögel sind schon da
• Im Märzen der Bauer
• Winter, ade!
In very good, used condition with almost no wear on the keyboard. Rear battery compartment cover is missing. Takes four AA cells. Audio output via built-in speaker or 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Tested & working 100%. Photos show the item for sale
