Description
11-Band analog vocoder from Freeform Analogue Technologies but built by German company Music And More (MAM). There are a couple of versions of the PCP330 – this one, sold by FAT as the PCP330, the VF11 sold by MAM and the Next Vox-11 Vocoder. These versions seem to differ little – perhaps the only changes are in panel & knob design
The PCP330 has voice mic and line-level inputs plus a synth input for the carrier signal. It can be used as a standalone filterbank by not using the mic/ line input. A vocoder uses the voice signal as an envelope to modulate the carrier. The signal is fed through an 11-band filter to shape the sound. Final results are dependent on the carrier, and how much it has in the way of harmonics, the voice input & filter settings. To get an idea of what it can sound like, take a listen to Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys which used a VF11
“For radical phasing effects, the VF11 is great. Emulate a TalkBox or just choose it as Filter. The VF11 has a build in Limiter. Noise is very low, even though analog. A real cool effect device, which can be used in several ways. Warm and analog Sound. Fits well to guitar”
“I also have the MAM VF-11 which is all Analog and has many parameters / knobs to edit on the fly and considered by many artist as the best Vocoder out there… I can say that both units MAM VF-11 and the DVP-1 are awesome and where one fails the other wins”
In excellent used condition with minimal rack rash & case marks. Knobs & etc all original. A couple of pots rotate through 360 degrees but still work as expected. Tested & working 100%. Sold with a new 12 Volt AC power supply. Photos show the PCP330 for sale
