Description

Mac Pro 3,1, 2.8GHz, Quad-Core, 16 GB RAM, 500TB SSD, twin 23″ Apple Cinema monitors, keyboard, mouse & cables

Mac Pro “Cheese Grater” 3,1 with 16 Mb RAM and 500 GB internal SSD. These original Mac Pros are ideal for music & video work as they have plenty of internal space for drives and have PCIe expansion slots for audio interfaces or video cards

The Mac Pro is running El Capitan 10.11.6 which is the latest officially-supported OS from Apple. It is possible to run later OS versions on this machine

Complete with two Apple Cinema monitors & cables, keyboard & mouse.  RME Fireface 800 audio interface available as an option

Just add software to make a complete DAW setup!

The Fireface 800 has multiple audio inputs & outputs. It has a dedicated front-panel headphone socket and is normally configured to use outputs 1&2 to drive active speakers. It has the excellent Totalmix software which has Dim, Mono & Phase switches for the monitor outputs, making it a full-featured monitor controller

The Fireface 800 supports two external interfaces via ADAT so you can daisy-chain additional interfaces. It also has SPDIF digital i/o, midi i/o, Word Clock and Firewire 400 & 800

The spec is:

  • Mac Pro 3,1 (Early 2008)
  • 16 Mb RAM (four slots free)
  • 500 GB SSD
  • Two 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors
  • ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 Mb video card
  • Two DVI-D video outputs give support for two monitors
  • Maximum DVI-D resolution: 2560 x 1600
  • Two Ethernet ports
  • Two Firewire ports
  • OS El Capitan 10.11.6

Included in the sale are:

  • Mac Pro 3,1
  • Power lead
  • Apple wired extended keyboard
  • Apple wired mouse
  • Two 23″ Apple Cinema monitors with all cables
  • USB 3 PCIe card (not installed)

Audio Interface (two available as options)

  • RME Fireface 800 56-channel audio interface
  • 5 metre Firewire cable for Fireface
  • two 2-metre midi cables

I upgraded the Mac with an SSD about 2 years ago. It has two 8 Core Intel Xeon processors running at 2.8 GHz so it’s a fast machine. With a good internal SSD it’s very responsive and it has plenty of internal drive bays for more storage

The two Cinema monitors can be mirrored or used separately. They each have two USB and two Firewire 400 ports so keyboards and other peripherals can be connected without running a USB cable back to the Mac Pro

With one Fireface 800 this setup has eight channels of balanced line-level i/o via the back-panel connectors of the Fireface, four balanced XLR mic inputs with phantom power and one line / instrument / di input on the front panel, stereo digital i/o via SP/DIF, sixteen channels of digital i/o via the ADAT ports and a dedicated, high-power headphone output. All these inputs & outputs can be used simultaneously and audio mixed & routed via the RME Totalmix software

A second Fireface 800 can be daisy-chained via Firewire to double the inputs & outputs

Tested & working 100%. Photos show the computer for sale
