The Fireface 800 is a classic Firewire audio interface from RME. Famous for compatibility, superb software drivers and ongoing support for products, RME is in a class of one in the industry
The Fireface 800 has eight standard line inputs & outputs plus headphone outputs, mic inputs, instrument inputs and comprehensive digital i/o with Wordclock, Firewire 400 & 800 and two sets of TOSlink connectors for ADAT-style i/o. This allows sixteen more channels of digital i/o using external interfaces. It’s also a full-featured Midi interface
Sample rates are up to 192 KHz and the FF880 can be clocked internally or externally. Wordclock in/out is on standard BNC connectors
The freely-downloable RME Totalmix FX software can be used to configure the FF800, to route audio between inputs & outputs and create headphone mixes
There is a dedicated headphone output on the front panel, driven by outputs 9 & 10. The speaker monitoring output is normally driven by audio outputs 1 & 2 and there are Dim, Mono and Phase controls on the speaker outputs, giving the FF800 a complete monitor section
