Description

High-spec multi-channel interface from RME. The Fireface 800 is legendary for the number of inputs & outputs it offers, and for the stability of the software drivers from RME

The company continues to support interfaces long after other manufacturers have abandoned previous models, making the Fireface 800 still relevant today. It’s supported on the latest M1 Macs and with the latest OS versions, and by all versions of Windows

Inputs and outputs include:

Front panel

  • 1 Instrument / line input via jack socket with status LEDs
  • Mic / Line inputs 7, 8, 9 & 10 via jacks & XLRS, with status LEDs
  • Dedicated headphone output via jack socket
  • Analog & digital status LEDs for level, sync, Midi & etc

Back Panel

  • 8 balanced line-level audio inputs via jack sockets
  • 8 balanced line-level audio outputs via jack sockets
  • two pairs of TOSlink connectors for ADAT connections 1 & 2
  • SPDIF in & out
  • Word clock in & out with switchable termibators
  • 1 x Firewire 400
  • 2 x Firewire 800
  • Midi in & out

The FF800 makes a great 8-in, 8-out line-level interface, but that’s just scratching the surface of what it will do. With four line inputs with switchable phantom power it’s handy for microphones and there’s a front-panel socket for a line / instrument DI. Totalmix software means separate a separate headphone mix can be created for the front-panel headphone socket

Main interface is Firewire but with appropriate adaptors the FF880 will work with Thunderbolt and USB4. This makes it compatible with all generations of Macs up to & including the M1. If you have an Apple Thunderbolt monitor, patch it into the Firewire socket on the back – no additional adaptors needed

“RME have always had possibly the best driver support of any range of audio cards I’ve ever come across, with regular updates and consistent reliability, and this extends to the Fireface” – Sound on Sound

“One of the reasons I really like RME hardware is that it tends to offer the most rock-solid clocking of any device in its price range” – Sound on Sound

“I have had it running on 3 pc’s and now on a mac. Installation has always been a 2 second procedure and never had a hiccup”

“I’ve had the RME Fireface 800 for over 6 years now. I’ve changed my computer 3 times now but had no reason to do so with the Fireface 800. This Audio Interface is simply stable as a rock, flexible with it’s inputs and outputs, and offers great low latency settings”
