Description
Post-Effectron, the new owners of the Deltalab name made a number of effects pedals. The SC1 is a stereo chorus pedal which gives a round, deep chorus. It has lots of control range so it’s easy to find the right setting. It’s not as extreme as some chorus pedals but is perfect for slow sweeping choruses and deeper flange / chorus effects. Have a listen to the bass demo from the Talkbass forum – it’s impressive
Construction is traditional stomp box in a die-cast metal case but it’s a tough-feeling pedal with a nice weight to it. The back panel has the obligatory 9V DC input for an external power supply and the battery compartment is underneath with a removable clip-in plastic cover. The base is covered in thick rubber
The SC1 is a stereo pedal and gives a good, wide stereo effect when active. It has true bypass so there’s no effect on the signal when in bypass. There is no signal at the second output in bypass
“Highly recommended for jazz, thickening distortion, and shimmering clean sounds.”
“I like subtle chorus.. and many units are either strong or kinda funky at the lighter ranges. This unit seem to go the other way.. nothing ‘too much’ on the top end of the settings (well there always is but who runs rate and depth and level on ten?) and nice fine tuning throughout the effect range”
“Nice for a little shimmer or a thicker sound”
“One of the best analog chorus units I’ve ever heard”
The Deltalab is from my effects Toy Box. I love pedals when mixing – they’re quick & easy to work with and you know immediately if they’re right for the track
Chorus pedals work well inserted into a channel or an effects send. They give movement & width to otherwise-boring signals and are great for putting sounds in a different perspective
