Neat spring reverb from 1980s Japanese company Vesta Fire. The RV-1 has a sweep equaliser and input limiter and a twin-spring setup for reverb. I’ve had a few spring reverbs over the last few years and this is definitely the most entertaining. At maximum setting, the limiter s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s transients into mush and output becomes ridiculously sustained. At lower settings it’s more like a regular limiter, but even with it switched out it’s hard to overdrive the spring and make it sound bad
This is the first VL-1 I’ve come across and it seems to be rare & slept on. I will be looking out for more!
